It is a thought-provoking movie which inspires you to probe into not only the troubled and conflicted mind of the protagonist, but also the larger context of world at that time. Granted, I admit that in some scenes I have to scrach my head to understand what the director tries to tell me. I would begin to wonder is there any connotation or symbol behind a specific object；why is there such a section of plot set here；or what the motive of a character's action. I can not even figure out who the character is and what his name is. I am confused by the incessant transitions and changes of movie scenes. But what I can not deny is its role as a cautionary tale regarding the nuclear danger much hung like the sword of Damocles among all human beings. What strikes me most is the scene when Oppenheimer delivers a public speech in front of the general public. He is greeted with raptuous ovation and applauses from Americans, as he creates nuclear bombs defeating the japanese invaders. But soon people sinking in ectasy and stomping their feet begin to be reversed. They become victims of the nuclear weapon. They shout, cry and yell in misery and anguish. The sharp contrast captivates me and also allows me to contemplate an implying moral issue. Nuclear weapons cut both ways. on the one hand, it contributes to the revival of hope to the American authority for their people and cracks down the Fascism. On the other hand, it triggers the arm race and leaves the later generations at stake. I would try to watch it again if I have time available.
