Little Women was the very first English book I had. Looking back, I’m so grateful that mom picked this one over Jane Austin - I might have been too young to understand the dramatic ironies, and terribly bored by the domestic preoccupations and trivialities in Austin’s heroines. My passion for literature was kindled by this book. I grew up with the story, and it grew with me. The latest adaptation of Little Women has been the best modern interpretation of classic work in a while. The director introduced a dual-narrative, the parallel timelines are made possible by the cinematic color palette. I cannot think of any actress who could have been a better Jo than Saoirse Roman, Florence Pugh is undoubtedly the best Amy on screen. Go see the film!!!!!!
And thank god, there is no Laurie in my life that I would want to get back to.
