Recall the past, boys crawled on the ground, watching some ants busy with carrying food back to home. Nevertheless, boys never just watched, instead, they killed. They brought the magnifying glass right under the Sun and aimed at the innocent ants. Burned in the sun withoutany reason, they were just ants in the boys’eyes. On the other side, boys were the God to ants. How about us? Are we ants to the others? Have we been ones’God ever? Stephen King told us the answer by the novel <Under the dome>.
This novel name maybe sounds familiar to most of us. It is not only a name of the novel, but also the name of a documentary directed by Chai Jing. There are really some similarities between these two. Among the endless universe, we are so tiny that we can barely see us as some black dots from space. Compare to our tiny existence, we are too much more arrogant. We assumed we were strong enough to challenge the nature while we are getting the unpredictable consequences from now on. The dome was not just a barrier stopped people from communicating with others, it was a symbol for all the disasters human couldn’t defense as well. Sometimes we should admit the insignificanceof ourselves for we are just ants to the nature, to the universe.
Take a gaze at today, why don’t we kill ants now? Because of the compassion, we start to respect the tiny lives crawling on the ground. They deserved the respect, however, did we deserve the forgivenessof the nature? I suppose no. Since we did so much cruel things to the pure nature, we deserved the punishment. How to balance the position of the God and ants is an essential lesson during our life.
