裸杀万里追:The Pursuit of Savage

People love Mel Gibson's "Apcolypto", and then go after this film "The Naked Prey" to find excitedly the similar hunting story has been told in a less distant historical way on the land of Africa.

Cornel Wilde created this story in 1966, with the background set in the early nineteenth century, after an ivory-hunting safari offending an African tribe, the colonialists are captured and hideously tortured. Only Wilde is released to be the leading role of this hunting sport. Back to a primitive stage, Wilde runs naked on this long long journey of survival. Scenes of food chain killing on this African land are inserted through out the deathly run, with the basic instinct for survival magnified in every breathe.

The humanity of the savage pursuers is manifested. And finally, the bond of humanity between the hunted and the hunter is suggested: as Cornel Wilde raises his hand to show respect to those who so eagerly tried to kill him by the end of the film outside the colony castle, the lead hunter raises his hand as a gesture of respect and admiration.

Civilization and barbarism echo with each other in a primitive heart...
