The protagonist Pēteris is a former tankman who's been crippled during the war. Together with his wife, son and son's girlfriend they are returning from a war veteran's reunion. During the trip they encounter society's indifference and cynicism. The last drop in Pēteris' patience comes after he has accidentally bumped another car at a gas station.
