In order to support himself while living in Japan, the Chinese student Ho Jun works in a slaughterhouse in Tokyo, lives with lots of other poor Chinese students in cheap rooms, and suffers the constantly arrogant and discriminating behavior of the Japanese against himself and other non-Japanese.
