影片改编自西班牙用加泰罗尼亚语和西班牙语创作的著名小说家、散文家和记者金·蒙索（Quim Monzó 1952年3月24日~）出版于2008年的同名加泰罗尼亚语讽刺小说的第一、第二部分中15个讽刺幽默故事。执着与遗弃、责任与痛苦、爱情与年迈、死亡与悲伤、现实与伪装、诚意与弃义、性交与乐趣、利益与疯狂构成了片中人物的众生相。 第一部分都有一个共同的主题——死亡的痛苦，这些痛苦不是来自死者，而是哀悼死者的亲人和朋友们。穿插在片中的第二部分用戏剧型式演绎。当然，最为关键的是表现人类的愚蠢。
