1939年9月，德寇侵占波兰，波兰政府决定将800顿黄金通过罗马尼亚运往西方国家保存起来。罗马尼亚政府同意运载黄金列车，德国纳粹谍报中心派特别行动小组混入押送黄金的队伍，企图里应外合破坏这次转移黄金行动。运输途中，波兰和罗马尼亚的军民为列车安全过境，紧密配合，同德国和罗马尼亚间谍及破坏分子展开英勇机智的斗争。在关键时刻，他们使用“掉包计”迷惑敌人，使纳粹分子阴谋终未得逞。
