巴基斯坦首次民主大选，作为有责任心的选民，本片导演心中的头等大事是推选一个能防止巴基斯坦走向极端主义的候选人。可是，就这个简单的夙愿都举步维艰，因为目前的候选人中，一位是宗教主义强硬派，另一位虽然是不打宗教牌的自由领袖，可他也曾是一个军事独裁者。在两个如此极端的候选人间，导演不得不思考：民主究竟是否适合跌宕的穆斯林国家？
