简单直接的家庭电影，但因故事背景的特别而显得趣味盈然。全片在太平洋的阿留申群岛上拍摄，描述一对年轻的土著夫妇和小儿子居住在几乎与世隔绝的孤岛上，父亲阿金直想捕捉到传说中的金海豹，因为它们的头可以带来大笔奖金。但是这只海豹却被小儿子发现，他处处保护着海豹，而父亲却千方百计要捕捉它，父子之间形成了强烈的对立，甚至令阿金几乎丧失了儿子对他的喜爱与尊重。片中对白虽然有点生硬，但导演弗兰克．祖尼加处理动作戏相当紧张刺激，加上海岛周遭的优美风光，令人看得相当舒服。
